The Irish Potato Famine
On 1849, Ireland had a huge Potato Famine. A certain disease had infected the potato plants. Which made all the potato plants to rot. Since there weren’t that many other kinds of plants that could grow in Ireland, most people starved to death. At this time many of them moved to New England. When this happened lots of the landlords did not want more disease to come around their property so the would kick out their tenants or they lied about saying that would be provided food, clothing and shelter in New England. Many others had chose to sail there to start a new life. Around 500 000 Irish people moved to New England.
