John Norton
John Norton was born in the early 1760s. John had run away from his parents to join the army. But when he left the army he had made a connection with Six Nations at the Grand River. John had seen a Mohawk chief Joseph Brant. He was inspired to learn the Mohawk language, culture and been adopted in the Native community. When the war of 1812 stated Norton wanted to join General Isaac Brock to support the British during the war. John Norton had provided the British and Canadian soldiers with a vital weapon “Aboriginal aide.” John and Mohawk chief warrior led hundreds of Six Nation warrior to help the British during the war of Queenston Heights. Many historians have debated that John Norton and his hundreds of warriors played more than a significant part in winning this battle. They say that the Americans were terrified of the Native warriors and because of the Native Warrior the British probably wouldn't have won. John died in 1825.
