Laura Secord
Laura is known as a brave and courageous women because she was brave enough to go to the battlefield to save her husband and brave enough to save Canada. Laura Secord was born on September 13, 1775 in Great Barrington, Massachusetts. Her dad had lost all of his money, so Laura and her family moved to Niagara Peninsula in 1795. Then 1797 she got married to an United Empire Loyalist, James Secord. During a war, her husband got wounded so Laura ran to the battlefield to save him. After that two Americans soldiers came to their house, they talked to James Secord about them surprising Canada and to try make it apart of the United States of America. They also said that they wanted to attack the British leader, Lieutenant Fitzgibbon. Laura Secord had then had the courage to warn Lieutenant Fitzgibbon about the attack. Laura thought she would run into an American solider so she decided to go the long way. Laura ran 32 kilometres and in the end she fell and became unconscious. But, luckily she became unconscious near a village that was an Indian encampment. When she woke up the Indians took her to Lieutenant Fitzgibbon. Laura Secords amazing act by warning Lieutenant Fitzgibbon on time, the Americans did not conquer Canada and after that the border between America and Canada was made. Laura Secord is known as wartime Hero because she had saved Lieutenant Fitzgibbon and saved Canada.
